TCF Bank Stadium – Live with Ross Vision

2012 Press Releases, Visionon December 20th, 2012

Production Flexibility for Venue Scoreboard and Display Systems

Thursday, December 20, 2012 [Iroquois, Ontario, Canada] – As part of a major update to its scoreboard display systems, the University of Minnesota TCF Bank Stadium installed a Ross Video 3 M/E Vision Production Switcher to manage scoreboards and in-house display systems for all three Stadium Venues (Football, Hockey & Basketball).

“We have overhauled our entire production system and the Ross Vision was the key component of our upgrade,” stated Tadd Wilson, Scoreboard and Video Production Manager at TCF Bank Stadium. “We needed a lot of flexibility in our control room as we have to manage production for our three venues. We chose a 3MLE Vision Production Switcher with separate 1MLE and 2MLE control panels, which allows us to produce video at our basketball and hockey venues concurrently when necessary,” Wilson continued. “During football we run all three MLE’s from our 2 MLE panel, which works flawlessly for us. We are very pleased with our choice of Vision; we store our setups for each location in custom controls and can be instantly production ready regardless of which venue/s are in use.”

Vision production switchers can have up to 9 panels controlling the switcher engine, making it ideal for applications where shared resources are required; its unique AUX keys and Multi-Screen production capabilities simplify the task of scoreboard and multiple display management. Additionally it’s powerful custom control macros and device controls allow complicated tasks to be controlled with a single button push.

“TCF Bank Stadium are really making excellent use of the Vision Production Switcher,” said Nigel Spratling, Switcher Marketing Product Manager – Communications at Ross Video. “They are using its Multi-Panel control feature fully and have found the flexibility they needed. Vision has become the primary switcher choice for many sports venues as it offers a feature set that is very difficult to match, particularly at its price point. We work hard to ensure that our products truly meet and exceed our customer expectations while minimizing control complexity.”

Furio Rocks “The Voice” Of China

2012 Press Releases, Roboticson November 7th, 2012

Wednesday, November 7, 2012 [Iroquois, ON, Canada] – Chinese Reality Talent Shows “The Voice” of China, is Asia’s first live reality singing competition to be broadcasted live using Ross Video’s Furio Robotic Camera System.

Co-produced by Zhejiang Satellite TV and STAR TV, “The Voice” of China aired its season finale on September 30th using Ross. Furio shot the entire seven hour finale in front of an 80,000+ stadium audience.

“Ross’ Furio gave us a lot of different options and flexibility on the type of shots we were looking for,” said Mr. Luo Lei, Director of Technical Operations Dept., Star China Media Ltd. “Furio allows us to have a very stable moving shot that can consist of panning, elevation and zooming all at the same time. In addition, because of the small footprint of the system, it does not obstruct the audience below the stage as well as distracting the performers on stage compared to a presence of a physical cameraman.”

“Our decision to go with Ross was made easier when we heard that other popular reality shows such as American Idol, “The Voice” of France, Eurovision Dance Contest and more used Furio for their productions,” said Mr. Luo Lei, Director of Technical Operations Dept., Star China Media Ltd. “We were confident that Furio would meet all our needs plus more for the season finale of “The Voice” of China.”

“Furio is truly a unique and ground breaking robotic camera system,” said Dae Choe, Vice President of Sales – Asia, Ross Video. “There’s quite nothing like it in the market as it provides producers and directors a completely new set of shooting options for their shows. The end result is an innovative and fresh new look to better capture and hold the audiences attention.”

Ross Video and Crispin Corporation Partner to Implement News Workflow

2012 Press Releases, BlackStrom, OverDriveon November 5th, 2012

Monday, November 5, 2012 [Iroquois, Ontario, Canada] – Ross Video partners with Crispin Corporation to implement a full news workflow designed to satisfy the requirements for a customer account.

The integration of products between Crispin and Ross Video allow both companies to achieve together what they could not have offered separately. The integration consists of Crispin’s NewsCat Media Asset Management System with Ross’ OverDrive Automated Production Control System and BlackStorm Playout Servers.

“Having a solution for every customer requirement is impossible to predict,” said Todd Robinson, Marketing Product Manager, Video Servers, Ross Video. “However, having a partner company to rely on to fill in the gaps is key to successful solutions.”

“Working with partners like Crispin and the BlackStorm team to create and end-to-end solution for the customer has been a pleasure,” said Allan Pepper, Marketing Product Manager, Technical, OverDrive, Ross Video. “The final integration provides complete transparency between the systems involved when coding server clips in the newsroom and has received great feedback from the customer.”

Crispin’s NewsCat Media Asset Management System allows editors, producers, and directors the ability to easily submit edited content to the Ross’ BlackStorm Playout Servers using a copy of the rundown. It creates low resolution proxies of the material upon submission so newsroom users can confirm the video has been successfully submitted and is correctly assigned to the right story where it can be sent live to air with OverDrive.

“One of the primary goals of most news operations is to become fully digital. This demands sophisticated technology and tools to manage the file-based workflows. The combination of Crispin and Ross technologies delivers that end-to-end solution news organizations demand,” said Rodney Mood, Chief Operating Officer, Crispin Corporation.

About Crispin Corporation
Founded in 1997, Crispin is a leading supplier of highly modular, highly scalable on-air master control automation, news and media asset management solutions.
