Ross-Ryerson Karate Program

Ross Video and Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada, are collaborating in the teaching of production switcher technology.

Ryerson wanted to do a little extra and thought it would be great to get interested students "accredited" on the operation of their Synergy MD production switchers. Ross already had customer training courses in place in addition to our internal "Karate Belt" program. We decided to put it all together and enable students to earn their Ross-Ryerson Switcher Yellow belts.

Ryerson sent their trainers to Ross to be fully accredited to teach the Yellow Belt course on Ross switchers at Ryerson.

When the first course was offered, everyone was extremely pleased to see 25 students graduate. These students paid extra to cover the costs of the course and did it on their own time in addition to their regular studies.

As part of the graduation ceremony, a Ross employee personally traveled to Toronto to hand out the framed certificates, and the all-important Synergy Yellow Belts!

As an added bonus, the graduating class also raised funds (with Ross as one of the sponsors) to go to NAB 2007 in Las Vegas. Most of the students below are Synergy Yellow Belt graduates. The student in the lower left is holding a small gift she received on the Ross booth - a pewter "1st NAB" pin.

Third from top left is Richard Grunberg, Asst. Professor at Ryerson. Fourth from top left is David Ross, CEO of Ross Video.

If you know a University that would like to do what Ryerson has achieved, we'd love to hear from you.
