MD-X

Iroquois, ON, Canada – March 28, 2007 – Ross Video announced today KRNV, the NBC affiliate in Reno, NV has purchased a Synergy 4 MD-X Multi-Definition Production Switcher and OverDrive® Production Control System for high-definition and automation capabilities. KRNV is the only station in the Reno market broadcasting all local news, network and special programming in HD.
“The Synergy 4 MD-X with OverDrive was selected for its proven switching and automation capabilities for our local news programming,” said David Feher, Director of Engineering, KRNV. “Through OverDrive, not only the Synergy switcher itself is controlled, but we have the ability to control external supporting functions such as the audio mixer and external server playlists during newscasts.”
Feher also commented, “With KRNV’s transition in a single step to high-definition from purely analog, we were concerned about our ability to quickly feel comfortable with a new digital switcher and all its capabilities. The production crew was eager to put it, and themselves to the test. Both have withstood the test and continue to advance our on-air image.”
“We are very pleased to be a part of KRNV’s transition to high-definition and production control,” said Brad Rochon, OverDrive Product Manager, Ross Video. “Their choice of OverDrive and Synergy MD-X plays a key role in the production of their local HD news programming, and positions their facility as a market leader in this technology that will create operational efficiencies for years to come.”
OverDrive is a highly flexible and scalable production control system with a real-time LiveLink™ MOS interface to the newsroom editorial system. The extensive device control capabilities of the Synergy 4 MD-X digital production switcher combined with OverDrive gives users the ability to execute a more consistent, efficient, and sophisticated news production.
The Synergy 4 MD-X Multi-Definition Production Switcher combines a 4 effects bank control panel with the MD-X live production engine provides 4 full MEs with up to 4 downstream keyers. Each M/E is equipped with 4 channels of Squeeze & Tease 3D DVEs, two standard UltraChrome™ Chroma Keyers, and 4 channels of MLE-Store™ with MediaCache™ moving image play back. The Synergy 4 MD-X is used in the most advanced newscasts and supports HD, SD or any combination of the two formats.
