Ross Video Announces Major New Product Introductions for NAB 2003

IROQUOIS, ONTARIO - March 21, 2003. Ross Video today announced plans to show new products across every product line the company produces.

"This is the largest range of new products in our 30 year history, our R&D groups are firing on all cylinders", said John Ross, President and Chairman of Ross Video. "We are very excited to be bringing this new range of solutions to our customers."

Synergy 1, 2, 3 & 4 2003 Edition
The popular Synergy 1, 2, 3 & 4 digital production switchers have significant enhancements for 2003 with new charcoal grey metallic control panels featuring mnemonic displays, Squeeze & Tease WARP effects and significantly enhanced integration and control capabilities.

The Synergy 2003 edition control panels now incorporate full 8 character mnemonics for source & router names as well as custom control macro buttons. The displays offer a tri-color backlight, enabling color coding of sources and macro buttons. Displays are based on a pixel array and have a variety of layout options including large and small text, inverse video as well as the ability to display both shifted and unshifted sources simultaneously.

Squeeze & Tease WARP is the new internal DVE for the Synergy 2003 edition - it is the most powerful on-board switcher DVE ever made. Squeeze & Tease WARP includes a full range of WARP effects, preprocessor effects, "picture frame" borders and an on-board still store.

Synergy '03 also provides an extended array of interface options now including such devices as robotic cameras and audio mixers to allow even tighter and more efficient control over your production system.

The Aspectizer on-board aspect ratio converter provides a new 14:9 look. Also new are additional downstream keyers 3 & 4 that incorporate on-board storage for static and animated logos. Version 11 software will ship with Synergy '03 and provides operational advances in many other areas.

Squeeze & Tease WARP
Squeeze & Tease WARP is the latest in built-in switcher digital effects from Ross Video available for the Synergy 100, 1, 2, 3 & 4. S&T WARP is a dual channel, 10-bit, fully loaded 3D DVE. It is simply bursting with features, including new WARP effects such as page turn, ripple, wave, mirror, swirl, melt, twist, slats, spheres, lenses, organics and many more. A fully positionable light source with advanced features such as ambient light control, clipping & auto follow mode makes a great looking lighting effect easy. The new on-board dual channel 30 - 512 frame (image size dependent) still store allows you to load in graphics and have them available in S&T at a moment's notice (up to 8 channels of still store are available on a Synergy 4). The preprocessing engine provides defocus, mosaic, posterization, colorization and strobe. A full selection of built-in "picture frame" effect borders add real impact to your over-the-shoulder boxes, interview boxes or slabs. Full keyframe sequence timelines and nested transformations allow complex effects to be easily programmed and then quickly recalled. The object builder makes slabs a breeze. The picture quality is simply stunning, we think you'll agree that this is our best Squeeze & Tease DVE yet!

Synergy 100 on Steroids!
Ross Video announces the addition of two very powerful options to the compact Synergy 100 Digital Production Switcher; Squeeze & Tease WARP, the Ultimatte Insider™ matting device. Also added to the Synergy 100 is on-board auxiliary bus control and full Squeeze & Tease control menus on preview overlay. In addition to making an excellent live or post production switcher, the Synergy 100 now makes an excellent master control squeeze unit or standalone DVE.

Squeeze & Tease Warp includes a full range of WARP effects including page turn, ripple, wave, mirror, swirl, melt, twist, slats, spheres, lenses, organics and more! It also includes a fully positionable light source, preprocessor effects such as defocus, mosaic, posterization, colorization, and strobe, "picture frame" borders and an on-board still store.

The Synergy 100 now integrates the industry leading Ultimatte Insider™ option card, made by Ultimatte™ for extra-critical keying applications.

RossGear Terminal Equipment
The RossGear terminal equipment line-up adds new solutions for satellite feed decoding, high density dual decoding, bulk monitoring conversion and audio auto-tracking to maintain or correct lip synchronization.

The ADC-8032A-S is a "feed friendly" decoder designed specifically for reception of hard to handle signals such as satellite and microwave feeds as well as general decoding requirements. The ADC-8032A-S comes equipped with an on-board frame synchronizer and time base corrector, to correct and time signals to a facility. It provides a high quality conversion by utilizing a Faroudja, 5-line adaptive comb filter decoder and is easily adjustable using an on-screen overlay display. The ADC-8032A is $1,395 and $1,795 with frame synchronizer.

The QMA-8044 Quad SDI to Analog Composite Video Monitoring Amplifier provides four channels of monitoring conversion on a single card. This card provides a high density, high quality and economical method for monitoring conversion of multiple feeds. A RossGear frame holds up to 10 QMA-8044 cards, providing up to 40 monitoring converters in a 2RU space - ideal for monitor walls! The list price of the QMA-8044 is $995 USD.

The ADC-8035 sets a new price point in broadcast quality decoding providing two 10-bit decoders on a single DA-sized card with a list price of $1,995 USD.

The ADL-8520 is a broadcast quality digital audio delay unit ideal for correcting lip-sync errors and tracking video frame synchronizer delay. The ADL-8520 offers 3 variations with a mixture of analog and digital input and output capabilities to meet any system requirement. The list price of the ADL-8520 is $900 to $1,875 depending on variation.

GearLite Compact Terminal Gear
The Ross Video high quality, low cost GearLite compact terminal equipment line adds 2 new analog video decoders and a comprehensive AES/EBU line up.

The ADC-9032 Composite to SDI Decoder and the ADC-9033 Component/Composite to SDI Decoder provide broadcast quality decoding at great price.

The GearLite AES/EBU products being introduced include the ADA-9501 AES/EBU Reclocking DA, ADA-9503 AES/EBU Fanout DA, DAC-9516 AES/EBU to 24-Bit Analog Audio Converter, ADC-9532 24-Bit Analog Audio to AES/EBU Converter and the AES 9521, 9523 and 9525 active Balanced to Unbalanced Converters.
