Ross Video Launches OverDrive Live Production Control System

IROQUOIS, ONTARIO - August 28, 2003. Ross Video today announced the launch of a new production control system called OverDrive.

OverDrive is a Windows based system with dual touch-screens that brings live control directly to the Technical Director over newsroom devices such as production switchers, audio mixers, video servers, robotic cameras and more. OverDrive enables sophisticated productions to be done more easily and consistently with fewer staff needed.

In newsroom applications, OverDrive provides a direct link into the newsroom editorial system, connecting straight to the run down. This means that any changes made in the run down are automatically updated in OverDrive in less than a second. Breaking news is handled easily with quick macros.

OverDrive builds on the extensive control capabilities of Ross' industry leading Synergy Series Digital Production Switchers. An OverDrive control room is designed around Synergy and other traditional control room devices from 3rd party manufacturers including video servers, character generators, still stores, audio mixers, robotic cameras and more.

An OverDrive control room can be staffed with a full crew for an evening time news cast while enabling a smaller crew on less demanding morning and late-night programs.
