Ross Vision Production Switchers Honored at NAB2007

Iroquois, ON, Canada – May 4, 2007 – Ross Video today announced the newly launched Vision Series production switchers were honored at the National Association Broadcasters (NAB2007) exhibition held April 16 -19 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Vision Series is Ross' next generation multi-definition production switcher, handling standard and high-definition formats. Vision received the STAR (Superior Technology Award Recipient) award by TV Technology magazine and the Broadcast Engineering magazine Pick Hit award.

The Broadcast Engineering Pick Hit is awarded in recognition of innovative technology developed and shown at NAB. The Pick Hit awards are the industry’s new product technology awards celebrating 23 years. The judges are the readers of the magazine. They are working professionals in the broadcast, post, and network and satellite industries.

The Broadcast Engineering Pick Hits are the longest-running and most sought-after technology awards given at NAB,” said Brad Dick, Broadcast Engineering Editor. “Companies know that being selected to receive a Broadcast Engineering Pick Hit represents the ultimate in product recognition because the winners are selected not by publishers and editors, but by the professionals who will actually use the products.”

The STAR Award is designed to celebrate and showcase the preeminent technological innovations available to the broadcast industry. A panel of judges consisting of TV Technology editors and columnists reviewed a variety of products, examined the technical applications and their overall contribution to the industry, and then submitted their award nominees.

“Every year, the NAB show serves as the launching pad for thousands of new products and services for audio and video professionals,” said Tom Butts, TV Technology Editor. “Our panel of editors walked the show floor in search of the most innovative technologies. The products and services that we selected for the STAR Award made the cut--they demonstrated their ability to help advance the acquisition and distribution of entertainment and information across the media spectrum.”

"We are honored to receive these prestigious industry awards for our Vision Series Video Production Switchers," said David Ross, CEO, Ross Video. “At Ross we continuously strive to develop leading edge technology working with our customers to deliver a superior experience.”

Building on over 30 years experience in production switchers, the Vision control panel incorporates a number of new concepts. Vision is highly modular and all models share a common platform and common set of modules. The use of RGB buttons results in a stunning new look and allows personalization of Vision's control panel. Vision offers a new DualDisplay™ color touch screen allowing the operator to view and control two menus simultaneously. A long list of other enhancements including built-in manuals, Linux based OS, and integration with the OverDrive® control system makes Vision the most advanced switcher on the market. Leveraging over 1 Million lines of Synergy Series software, the Vision Series has a head start with a well developed feature set and a full complement of device control options. The 5 new models, ranging from 1 to 4 M/Es, include: the Vision 1 MD, Vision 2 MD, Vision 2 MD-X, Vision 3 MD-X and Vision 4 MD-X.
