Ross Video is proud to introduce openGear, an exciting new concept in broadcast terminal equipment solutions.  openGear is based on an open-architecture, control system ready 2RU modular frame, designed to accommodate up to 10 cards.  A wide variety of openGear cards are available from terminal equipment vendors supporting the openGear platform allowing facilities the freedom and flexibility to choose the best technology for their particular application. The openGear module offering from Ross includes a selection of distribution and conversion solutions from the 8200 Ross openGear product family as well as a suite of solutions from the 8000 series available with the openGear adapter.

Modular Frame Architecture
The openGear DFR-8310 blends the simplicity of a fixed rear connector frame and the flexibility of independent rear modules.
For most BNC applications, the DFR-8310 is available with a fixed 100-BNC rear I/O module. This frame configuration allows any Ross openGear module using BNC connectors to be installed into any slot. Unused slots can be pre-wired into a facility, and installation of cards can be done at any time without accessing the rear of the frame.

For applications where a variety of other types of I/O connections are necessary (such as twisted-pair audio or fiber interfaces), the openGear frame also supports independent rear I/O modules. Each slot can be outfitted with a function specific rear module to suit your requirements.
