SNMP
Simple Network Management Protocol
SNMP is an industry standard protocol used with TCP/IP that can be used across numerous manufactures, that support SNMP, to control, monitor, and configure attached devices.
SNMP consists of the three basic command structures:
- Read – used to monitor connected devices
- Write – used to configure connected devices
- Trap - used to report asynchronous events from a connected device
SNMP on the openGear platform is implemented by loading an SNMP agent to the MFC-8310-N network control card. The agent translates internal parameters from devices in the frame and presents these parameters as defined by the published MIB’s, Management Information Base.
MIBs are available for all Ross openGear solutions.
