Letter to Codan Broadcast Customers
September 1st, 2010
Letter to Codan Broadcast Customers:
As of September 1st, 2010 Codan Broadcast has become Ross Video Australia Pty, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ross Video Ltd, Iroquois Canada. Ross Video is a privately held Canadian company with operations around the world. Ross has a strong presence in the broadcast and production industries globally with key product lines such as Vision and Cross Over Series Production Switchers, openGear Terminal Equipment, OverDrive Automated Production Control, SoftMetal Video Servers and XPression Realtime 3D Character Generator and Motion Graphics System.
Ross Video now offers the key NK Series routing switcher product line for sale world-wide through our network of sales representatives and business partners. We continue to operate the factory and design lab in Melbourne, Australia with all Codan Broadcast Melbourne staff making the transition to Ross. This team will continue to design, and manufacture the NK Series. We also plan to hire an Australian sales representative (get your resume in right away) as soon as possible who will help to increase Ross’ presence in Australia as well as connect with our substantial Australian customer base.
NK Series Routing Systems
NK Series Routing Systems is the flagship product line that Ross has acquired with the purchase of Codan Broadcast. NK is a highly competitive line of routers from 16x4 to 320x320 and is accompanied by a well featured, fault tolerant control system. This product line represented the bulk of the sales of Codan Broadcast and Ross will continue to aggressively invest and accelerate the development and expansion of the NK Series.
Kondor Series
Kondor was once the flagship line of routers from Talia which became part of Copdan Broadcast in 2005. This product has been only offered by Codan Broadcast for the past two years to accommodate existing customer expansions. Ross will continue to support Kondor expansions for existing Kondor customers on a best efforts basis. This product does not meet current European and other hazardous materials legislation and some of the components used in Kondor designs are obsolete and difficult to find. Should you wish to expand your Kondor system, please contact your local Ross sales representative or dealer who will be able to provide a quotation.
PV Series Terminal Equipment
The PV Series was formerly the Pro Video Line of terminal equipment and acquired by Codan in 2002. Like Kondor above, PV has obsolete and hard to find components and is not RoHS compliant. Our intention is to phase out this product line in favor of the much broader, current and feature rich Ross openGear product line which also offers the DashBoard control system. We will offer accommodation sales to customers that would like to purchase additional products for a limited time while providing a path to migrate to the openGear platform. PV Series customers moving to openGear will be entitled to a special free openGear frames promotion and special product discounts in recognition of their new partnership with Ross. Ask your local Ross representative for details.
MB-630 Audio Monitoring Bridge
The MB-630 Monitoring Bridge is a legendary product in the Australian market. This rackmount audio metering and monitoring bridge was designed with superior acoustic properties. The MB-630 is also on phase out but will continue to be offered in Australia on an accommodation basis to customers as long as demand exists and components are available. The MB-630 is non-RoHS and therefore cannot be legally sold in many parts of the world.
Ongoing Support
Products on phase-out, including Kondor, PV Series and MB-630 will continue to be supported long into the future. As is the practice with all Ross products, we will always answer your phone calls and email and offer free advice for the life of your product. Solutions@rossvideo.com and +1-613-652-4886 are the best ways to reach us. Australian customers can continue to call +61 (0)8 8336 0600 during normal business hours in Melbourne.
We hope that this letter clarifies any questions you might have related to the future of what is now a key component of Ross Video. We value your feedback and look forward to hearing your questions and comments at: CBacquisition@rossvideo.com.
