MBC Moves Towards DTV with the Ross Synergy 2

As Chief Engineer at the Miami Broadcast Center, I am involved with management, purchasing, and repair of equipment. In our facility, we have 5 big soundstages, 2 control rooms and one more under construction. We accommodate many major clients including Univision, Telemundo, the Discovery Channel and many other clients who demand great equipment.

Previously, we were using a Grass Valley Analog Switcher, however, our clientele was demanding that we move to DTV and the digital world, so we had to stay on top of it. We were also being faced with the challenge of simultaneous dual aspect ratio production.

Having used a Ross switcher in the past, when it was time to grow -- and we are growing A LOT - we decided to take a look at it. We liked the ease of use operation, our past experiences with Ross, the value-for-our-money price, the service contract and the reliability of the product and its name.

During our decision making process, we took a look at a variety of features including Aspectizers, Squeeze and Tease, Ultimatte Insider, Preview Overlay, Custom Control and the growth path (all the Ross Synergy switchers use the same frame, so components and the control panel only have to be swapped out).

After purchase, it was very easy to incorporate and train our people in the operations -- load a configuration and go!

We are using the switcher for productions for many different clients (all with high expectations and demands for the switcher). With the Synergy, we've never had one complaint that they could NOT do what they wanted.

Installation of the switcher was easy and on time. We also used RossGear A to D and D to A converters because of our analog sources.

Our total experience with Ross can be rated as A++ -- through pre-sale, sale, installation and post installation, our dealings with them have been great with fast service.

In our facility and business, money, time and equipment are very important to us, and Ross shines as the best.

With the Ross Synergy, we are definitely ready for the future.
