NewRO Chooses Ross Synergy

The NewRO is Ottawa's first independent television station. Formerly located in Pembroke, Ontario the station moved in September 1998 to Ottawa, Ontario following it's purchase by CHUM Television.

In August of 2000, the NewRO re-located once again and expanded their broadcast facility. From our new state-of-the-art broadcast facility located downtown in Ottawa's Byward Market as well as from our former headquarters in Pembroke, we produce news and local programming serving Ottawa and surrounding area. My role as News Director is to manage the news and information programming aired on the station.

Because of the expansion, we were acquiring a second switcher as our new facility is designed to include two switchers. Our previous unit, which is in our second control room, is a Ross Synergy 2.

Due to our success with the first Ross switcher, when it was time to integrate a second unit into our facility, we chose the Ross Synergy 4.

The installation was easy and on-time and this time around there was no training required. Our staff finds the Synergy 4 easy to operate.

The Synergy has reduced our technical headaches during live newscasts, improved our production abilities, and assists the NewRO in facing our future production needs.
