I am Chair of the Technology Department and Professor of Broadcast Media Technology at Roxbury Community College.

Our TV Studio was built in 1985 and is located in the Media Arts Center of the college. We are an institution of higher learning and our facility is used to educate students and members of the surrounding community on areas related to radio and TV broadcast applications.

My role as a Professor is to train and educate students in the use and operation of TV/Radio facilities. I oversee the entire facility. I am also responsible for some aspects of distance learning and broadcast communications campus wide.

The purchase of this switcher was to keep up with the changing market and introduce newer technology to students, faculty and staff. We upgraded our current studio to incorporate digital equipment. We wanted to do away with our analog switcher and acquire a digital switcher to compliment our new digital cameras.

We chose the Synergy 100 for many reasons: features, options, low power consumption, ease of operation, value, and warranty. However, we definitely made our decision after seeing its features demonstrated.

The installation was done on time and was very easy because we selected other video equipment to compliment the switcher. Whatever additional equipment we needed to make the switcher go, we definitely used Ross products just to stay consistent.

I received dedicated, one-on-one training from Peter Chartrand, our Ross rep, who was excellent in getting the concepts and features across in a very patient way. This made my job easier once I started to train students, faculty and staff.

We are using the Synergy 100 as the brain of our control room for keying, switching etc. and have not encountered any problems as yet. By all means, the Synergy 100 has definitely improved the look of all productions and the entire campus community has commented about it.

My experience with Ross was excellent. Peter Chartrand made personal visits to our site to ensure we were comfortable with the product and to offer any assistance in training or any area wherever needed.

The Ross Synergy 100 has been an excellent addition for our studio production needs. It was a smart, cost effective choice and its ease of use has proven to be well received by our students. For the price, we are able to create stunning effects in 2D and 3D. The great thing about the switcher is we can look like CNN and not have to spend that type of money on a switcher.
