Ross’ Synergy 2 Runs Seamlessly at Sport View Technologies

Founded in 1955, Sport View Television Corporation pioneered the concept of video patrol for pari-mutuel race course facilities throughout North America. Since its inception, Sport View has become an industry leader providing audio/visual communication systems in horse and dog track facilities, casinos and houses of worship, as well as many other commercial business and industrial manufacturing facilities.

In 2002, Sport View Television changed its name to Sport View Technologies, better reflecting the company’s ability to provide a sundry of electronic systems integration and solution packages.

Today, with over 47 years of industry knowledge and experience, Sport View Technologies provides the design, installation, operation and service of technology solutions including commercial audio systems, broadband cable television systems, video conferencing and multimedia solutions, security and video production systems. Each solution is custom designed and installed according to each client’s individual needs and budget.

Sport View Technologies employs over 100 technicians, with operations in dozens of locations throughout North America and Canada. Our technical staff is available to
our clients and end-users 24-hours a day, 7-days a week, with telephone and on-site support capabilities.

My role at Sport View is to manage system engineering and specification. As a provider for broadcast audio/visual systems at The Red Mile, and throughout the United States, we decided in February of this year, that it was time to replace our analog JVC KM 2500 switcher. We knew we wanted a 2ME switcher and we’ve had a history with Ross products in the past, so we called up Ross and had our sales rep, Les O’Reilly, and their demo guy, Brian Stumpf, come out for a demo of the Synergy 2 digital production switcher. Well, how did it go? Let’s just say we didn’t have to look at any other switcher manufacturers.

Synergy 2’s feature set blows away the competition. Features such as low power consumption, the growth path, ease of operation, and value are great to receive, but options such as Squeeze and Tease 3D, mnemonics and preview overlay - to name a few - make this a very sophisticated piece of equipment. Plus, Ross’ warranty is unbeatable.

The installation of the Synergy 2 production switcher was easy and on time. But, to complete our install, we had to add in some converters. Naturally, we went with Ross for all of our terminal gear from A to D and D to A converters, Serial DAs, Analog DAs, and Monitoring DAs all installed into Ross frames.

We use the Ross Synergy 2 as the core switcher / controller at The Red Mile horse racing facility in Kentucky and it has run seamlessly. Throwing multiple keys on-air during a live production has been easy and quick… and has allowed us to improve the look of our productions.

All in all, other switchers simply do not compare with Ross switchers in value and ease of use and working with Ross, the company, has also been an excellent experience.
