The Telecommunications component of the Texas Education Agency provides timely information, updates and staff development programming for the educators of Texas. It also provides a forum for live interactive meetings on a state/world wide basis.

T-STAR is one of the many initiatives that are part of the Texas Education Agency's Long Range Plan for Technology. The T-STAR satellite network provides resources to educators that can be used in an interactive classroom environment.

With Technology influencing our everyday lives the role of educating our children, the ability to be competitive in the future has gone from the standards of old to the fast paced and highly condensed delivery systems of today.

Many of the avenues used for the delivery of information today are in the digital hierarchy. To be able to provide educators in Texas with the tools needed in today's classroom, the T-STAR studios moved into the digital era. One of the hardest choices to be made was selecting the switcher to use in the new control room.

We needed to have an instrument that allows us to take full advantage of the signal manipulation afforded by the digital upgrade. We did not want to overburden the staff with a sizeable learning curve.

We needed a state of art piece of equipment that was user friendly. An oxymoron in today's marketplace.

We needed a switcher that could provide flexibility for future needs. The previous switcher was a Ross 424 that served us well for 6 years.

The demands of the market for the delivery of product in various formats has driven our growth and expansion.

Our product's appearance and the overall incorporation of elements into our broadcast have improved this season. Partly due to use of the Synergy 3's fingertip features.

The decision to make the T-STAR broadcast digital was driven mostly by the need of our viewer to receive information in a variety formats (Analog, Digital, IP).

The added value of the onboard features and the easy upgrades available in the Ross Synergy series was a major reason T-STAR studios purchased the Ross Synergy 3.

Most major brands were compared to assure the best value for the states expenditure. The Synergy series clearly is a bargain in its price range.

The installation was a virtual plug and play set up.

The T-Star studio's signal from beginning to end now exists in both the digital and analog layers. Encoders and decoders were used extensively.
