WJHG is Prepared for the Future with a Ross Synergy Switcher

WJHG is Newschannel 7, an NBC Affiliate, and one of the interactive neighborhood stations. Currently #1 in our market, and wanting to remain that way for the future, WJHG needed to replace an aging, unreliable analog GVG Switcher.
As I was not with WJHG at the time the purchasing decision was made, I only know that Synergy had many features (like Squeeze and Tease and the 100 memories per MLE) which appealed to the chief engineers.
In preparing for the future, we required a digital switcher. Even though we had no immediate requirement for simultaneous 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratio production, we feel that we are ready for the DTV transition because of Synergy and Aspectizers (internal aspect ratio converters).
At the time of my arrival, training was in progress. As I had no previous experience with Ross Switchers, there was somewhat of a learning curve. Synergy was easy to integrate into our facility and is extremely easy to operate with multiple keys on air.
Synergy performs as expected and memories allow us to be creative in our daily live newscasts and post-production uses.
We chose RossGear terminial equipment -- and a lot of it --to do our conversion due to the ease of support. Everything was received on time and our installation went smoothly.
