The free SoftMetal Video for Windows codec package allows Windows applications to save files directly in SoftMetal’s native formats. These files are transferred across the Gig E network to your SoftMetal Server and are ready for play out.

 

QuickTime Graphics

QuickTime Graphics Workflow

SoftMetal expertly handles QuickTime graphics files. Simply save the graphics files on your Mac as a QuickTime Animation file and the appropriate video parameters and transfer the file across the Gig E network to your SoftMetal Server. Standard definition QuickTime Animation Files can be played directly to air from SoftMetal with no conversion required. For HD files, use the SoftMetal Transcode manager to transcode the QuickTime files into the SoftMetal native format and then play!

 

QuickTime Video Clips from Final Cut

QuickTime Video Clips from Final Cut Workflow

QuickTime clips from Apple's Final Cut Editing package or other editing packages producing that produce QuickTime files can be played natively on SoftMetal. Simply save the files on your Mac as a .mov file using the DV (DV, DVCAM, DVCPRO and DVCPro HD) family of codecs These files are then transferred across the Gig E network to your SoftMetal Server. These files can be played directly to air from SoftMetal with no conversion required.

 

Targa Graphics

Targa Graphics Workflow

Targa files that are created on a Windows PC or Apple MacIntosh can be transferred to SoftMetal over a network. Stills can be played immediately within SoftMetal once received. Animations are converted using the SoftMetal Transcode Manager to a native SoftMetal file that incorporates both the video and alpha channel (if applicable). Once transcoded, these animations are ready to play.

 

MXF Clips

SoftMetal enables new possibilities for MXF-based workflows. SoftMetal is capable of recording to MXF files, playing MXF files and importing and exporting MXF files within the range of codecs and MXF profiles supported by SoftMetal.
