Digital Production Switchers - Vision Octane
Product Overview
When we created Vision Octane, we dreamed big, like you do with your productions. Our goal was nothing less than creating the most powerful production switcher on the planet for those with the most demanding live productions. It's time to break with the past and move forward with Vision Octane from Ross Video.
For decades, video production switchers were limited to 4 MLEs due to a multitude of challenging technological and user interface barriers.
The new Vision Octane, with up to 8 full MLEs, resolves each and every challenge as a culmination of almost a decade of successive innovations and careful planning.
Video Processing Chassis Architecture
The entire 8 MLE switcher’s video processing is fully self-contained in a single 8RU chassis. There are up to 96 inputs and 48 outputs at the rear of the chassis, sufficient for the most demanding applications imaginable. At the front of the chassis is a 144x144 crosspoint that feeds 4 dual MLE cards. Each MLE has up to 4 channels of 3D DVE with WARP dedicated to it plus 4 channels of dedicated animation stores. In many ways, the system looks like a double 4 MLE switcher internally.
Impressive Specifications
When you add up everything in the box, nothing comes close to Vision Octane in the marketplace today. There are 35 Full Screen HD Animation Stores, 24 channels of 3D DVE with WARP capability, 96 inputs, 48 outputs, 32 full keyers, 12 AuxKey Mixer / Keyers on the aux bus outputs, and 12 DVE key combiners, giving an unprecedented total of 56 keyers in the system.
In case 8 MLEs don’t sound impressive enough, the AuxKey Mixer / Keyers also act as “mini MLEs”. For applications such as multi-screen production where individual screens require production power, Vision Octane operates as if it’s a 20 MLE switcher.
Easy Operation
Given the fact our engineers were not able to increase the length of operator’s arms, the Vision control panel maintains 4 MLE rows. To gain access to the additional MLEs, a button was added in each MLE row to select the MLE to control. A display beside the button indicates the MLE number in use. More importantly, each MLE is assigned a color and RGB buttons in the row automatically change to match the assigned color. This feature is patent-pending. When the Vision panel was designed, buttons on the panel were set aside for “+4 MLE” shift capability. This allows the operator to easily run the switcher thinking of the hardware as a pair of 4 MLE switchers. When the chassis is connected to multiple control panels, MLEs can be easily assigned to any number of control panel rows on up to 9 connected control panels. Any combination of control panel sizes can be connected.
