NSCC Introduces Automated Production Control Technology In Broadcast Program

Iroquois, ON Canada – February 10, 2009 – Ross Video is proud to announce Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) is the first and only educator using Ross Video’s OverDrive Automated Production Control System (APC) to teach students production automation.

NSCC offers a Radio and Television Arts diploma with a Television Production Specialization. Students in this program learn hands-on automated production control technology as part of the curriculum. The state-of-the-art Waterfront Campus in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada is equipped with two television studios. NSCC recently up-graded their production equipment to include OverDrive APC Technology.

“We recognize the industry is moving towards automated production control and we want our students to be able to learn using the latest technology so they have the necessary skills to work in the industry,” said Stephen Melanson, Radio and Television Arts faculty at Nova Scotia Community College.

“We’re pleased that NSCC has implemented OverDrive Automated Production Control technology as part of the Television Production Specialist program,” said Brad Rochon, Marketing Product Manager, OverDrive. “It’s important for students learning television production to have an understanding of this technology to better prepare them to enter the workforce.”

Eastern Canada PCI Atlantic played a key role in the acquisition and installation of the Ross OverDrive system. All Ross training sessions were video recorded, which has proved to be very helpful for training future students.

NSCC Radio and Television arts students are already using the Ross OverDrive system to produce their weekly television show. “I’m excited to be a part of a growing industry in broadcast technology. I feel really lucky to attend the first school to use this automated system, and I know this will give me an edge and make me more employable when I graduate from the program,” said Shannon MacIntyre, Radio and Television Arts Student.
