Ross Video Introduces Carbonite eXtreme – A Revolution in Production Systems to be Unveiled at NAB 2013

Sunday, April 7, 2013 [Las Vegas, NV, USA] – The Carbonite eXtreme breaks away from traditional production switcher architecture, combining production switching with signal routing and distribution in the same chassis – simplifying installation and operation at an affordable cost.

Production switchers have always been designed to deliver a single Program output from multiple input sources, while many production systems today are required to deliver outputs to multiple screens, on-set displays and signal distribution systems. This is particularly true for live production of worship and stage events, as well as larger facilities and multi-site complexes.

“We decided to take a fresh look at production switcher applications and formed customer focus groups to help us better understand the overall requirements of modern production systems,” said Nigel Spratling, Production Switcher Business Development Manager, Ross Video. “Carbonite eXtreme is the totally unique result of our research, and it’s the perfect solution. The massive reduction in rack-space and interconnections makes it ideal for production vehicles.”

The eXtreme chassis can be configured with an I/O of up to 144 x 144 in increments of 8, and internally houses the Carbonite production switcher. With eXtreme it’s now simple to manage complex productions across multiple output destinations.

“eXtreme is a truly revolutionary production tool, with the horsepower of Carbonite wrapped inside a highly configurable signal routing and management system,” continued Spratling. “It works with any Carbonite control panel and NK router panel, and when combined with our XPression graphics systems, BlackStorm playout servers and our DashBoard control systems, you have a complete ‘state of the art’ production system with full signal management. Nothing like this has ever been seen before, it’s a real game changer!”

Carbonite eXtreme is scheduled to ship in June 2013, and will be debuted at Ross Video’s Booth N3808 at NAB in Las Vegas.
