Ross and Rocket Surgery Win Big at the 2021 Telly Awards

Ottawa, Canada, May 28th 2021 – The annual Telly Awards have been honoring excellence in video and television across all screens since 1979, and the twelve thousand entrants (from all fifty US states and five continents around the world) are judged by the Telly Award Judging Council, a group of leading video and television experts from some of the most prestigious companies in entertainment, publishing, advertising, and emerging technology, such as WarnerMedia, NBC News, Framestore NY, and Vimeo to name a few.

This year, award winners were announced on May 25th in New York and Ross Video featured heavily in the list of winners, with Ross and Rocket Surgery (Ross Video’s in-house creative and professional services division) scooping an impressive twenty-six awards – six gold, fifteen silver and five bronze. The six gold medals recognised creative work seen at a variety of high-profile events including the NFL’s fifty-fifth Super Bowl® in Tampa, Florida, the 2020 Drone Champions League season, 2020 US election coverage and the 2020 Asian Academy Creative Awards, held in both Sydney and Singapore. Much of this work was centered about Augmented Reality graphics that were produced by the XPression graphics platform from Ross and the company’s pioneering Voyager graphics rendering solution (based on the Unreal Engine from Epic Games).

Jim Doyle, Mission Commander with Rocket Surgery, is pleased to see the judges focusing heavily on content creativity this year. “It’s been a tough year for everyone, and we’ve all needed a bit of escapism. We’ve tried hard to help our customers bring the most creative content possible to audiences, in ways that are efficient and cost-effective. It’s not been easy given the challenging working environment, but I’m very pleased that the Telly Awards judges have recognized the work that we are most proud of ourselves. I know audiences really enjoyed these projects and I’m incredibly happy for everyone at Ross who was involved.”

“In the face of a year like no other, the visual storytelling community has continued to defy the limitations of our new world. Achievements have been both societal, such as embracing social media platforms to raise awareness about injustices and promote solidarity for movements, as well as geographical, like developing fully remote pipelines for dispersed teams”, says Telly Awards Executive Director Sabrina Dridje. “This year’s submissions doubled down on what we already know about the industry. Creativity cannot be stopped. Collaboration will always prevail. New ideas and stories will always find a way to break through to an audience.”
