Ross Video launches openTruck™

Powerful remote-production initiative that opens the door to network-quality production cost effectively

Tuesday April 2, 2014 [Iroquois, Ontario, Canada] – Today, Ross Video introduced openTruck™, an innovative initiative that provides a standardized yet customizable way to design a new generation of cost-effective remote-production vehicles that deliver the highest quality video and audio content from sports and other live events. By offering a proven model for lower cost, high-performance vehicles, openTruck opens the door to network-quality production and gives producers an all-round better way to expand coverage and meet consumer demand for coverage of more local events.

OT1“Coverage of local and regional sporting and other live events, including things like political events, concerts and rallies, has traditionally been extremely expensive,” says David Ross, Chief Executive Officer for Ross Video. “openTruck delivers huge opportunities in the regional sports and live-event market by enabling production companies to build and staff trucks that meet the demanding requirements of today’s sophisticated media delivery networks. Trucks built using the openTruck initiative will deliver a predictable production experience and outstanding results—all the time, every time.”

By leveraging Ross Video’s innovative technology, openTruck provides partners with a proven blueprint, including open protocols, specifications and schematics, that ensure efficient production workflows, uncompromising video quality, and rapid reconfiguration from event to event. openTruck provides producers with access to remote production units and trained operators that offer consistent quality and capabilities. openTruck is complemented by openCrew, an extensive operator training program and database of certified freelance operators and partner production companies. Content producers can take advantage of this openCrew to access a comprehensive pool of trained operators located across North America.

“openTruck is an initiative that involves partnerships with equipment manufacturers, system integrators, truck builders, mobile producers and freelance operators,” says Nigel Spratling, Marketing Product Manager at Ross Video. “We already have a number of companies on board and are encouraged by the considerable interest openTruck is already generating. Anyone who wants to find out more should visit the new openTruck.tv website.”
