Ross Video’s OverDrive Caprica Launches Successful Control
of a Third Party Production Switcher

Friday, September 5th, 2014 [Iroquois, Ontario, Canada] – Today, Ross Video announces the official launch of OverDrive Caprica at a leading station group in the USA. OverDrive Caprica adds the ability to control third party production switchers, giving non-Ross production switcher customers the consistency benefits of automating their control rooms with OverDrive.

“This is the biggest development in OverDrive since the product’s 2005 inception,” said Scott Bowditch, Marketing Product Manager – OverDrive, Ross Video. “Until now, OverDrive has relied on a connection to our Vision and Synergy switchers to access a library of interfaces. Now, Caprica removes this restriction and adds the category of production switcher to our Ross Video driver library. In this particular application, OverDrive is interfaced with Sony production switchers.”

The OverDrive Caprica interface provides a standalone server that acts as a timing engine and device control hub inserted between OverDrive and the production switcher. OverDrive talks directly to Caprica, which in turn talks to the production switchers, video servers, graphics, cameras, audio, and other broadcast devices.
