What’s New: Media I/O Version 12

Media I/O continues to set the benchmark for media ingest and playout solutions with the release of Version 12.0. Designed for the dynamic demands of today’s production environments, Media I/O combines flexibility, scalability, and robust performance to empower broadcasters, corporate teams, and content creators worldwide. Packed with innovative features, the latest update redefines media workflow efficiency, creativity, and security.

Here’s everything new in Media I/O Version 12:

What’s new in Media I/O v12.0?

1. Playlist manager and viewer

Media I/O now offers a fully integrated Playlist Manager and Viewer to simplify clip organization and playback. This intuitive tool allows you to:

  • Organize and sequence clips directly in the Playlist Manager.
  • Drag and drop media from the Library into your playlists effortlessly.
  • Enhance playback control with support for sequential playback, cueing, looping, and dynamic updates.

With these capabilities, the Playlist Manager is ideal for managing live broadcasts, pre-recorded productions, and complex playout scenarios.

2. Enhanced Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)

V12 introduces granular roles and permissions that empower administrators to assign and control user access. This feature ensures secure content management by limiting access to specific features or server channels, improving operational efficiency in multi-user environments.

3. HTTPS support for secure connections

Security takes center stage with the new HTTPS support in Media I/O. This update ensures that sensitive data remains protected throughout your media operations, enabling:

  • Encrypted communication for safe and reliable media transfers.
  • Easy configuration using industry-standard SSL/TLS certificates.
  • Privacy compliance to meet modern IT security requirements.

4. SRT playback for reliable streaming

Media I/O now supports Secure Reliable Transport (SRT) for video playback. This technology:

  • Delivers low-latency streaming over unreliable networks.
  • Ensures high-quality video performance for remote productions, live contributions, or content distribution.

With SRT, broadcasters and distributed teams can enjoy uninterrupted streaming regardless of network conditions.

5. Key/Fill in a single channel

Simplify your graphics workflow with the ability to combine a key and fill signal into a single channel. This feature simplifies production setup involving layered graphics, such as sports broadcasts and live events.

6. VANC/HANC support

Media I/O v12.0.0 now supports Vertical and Horizontal Ancillary Data (VANC/HANC) by default. This ensures the preservation of metadata, captions, and timecodes during signal processing, improving compliance with broadcast standards.

7. Online help system

Navigating Media I/O has never been easier with the addition of a context-sensitive online help system.

Simply:

  • Click the ❓ Help button in any Media I/O workspace pane to access relevant guidance for that pane.
  • If you can’t find what you need there, you can also use the table of contents or search to find specific topics.

This feature reduces the learning curve, allowing teams to operate confidently and efficiently.

8. More library improvements

You can now select or delete multiple clips at once and see the asset path location and VPID color space information of each clip in the Library.
