Visitors to IBC Show 2025 stepped into a world where technology and creativity came together to transform the possibilities of live production. On the Ross Video stand, the latest innovations in virtual production were on display, offering broadcasters and content creators a first-hand look at how flexible, sustainable, and efficient modern workflows could be.
From immersive graphics to adaptable studio environments, the showcase demonstrated how Ross Virtual Solutions helped broadcasters achieve their creative ambitions while meeting operational demands.
Voyager, the Unreal Engine-based render engine, delivered photorealistic environments, augmented reality (AR) elements, and stylised virtual worlds.
Voyager Trackless Studio offered a cost-effective approach to virtual production, using the same high-quality assets and realism as fully tracked environments, but without the need for additional hardware or infrastructure.
Lucid Studio provided an intuitive control layer, enabling producers, journalists, and presenters to manage virtual productions with confidence. Its integration with MOS-driven workflows made adding or editing virtual graphics as seamless as updating a lower third.
At this year’s IBC showcase, Ross demonstrated a hybrid production space that combined Greenscreen Virtual Set Production with AR set extensions, alongside LED-based XR (Extended Reality). This balance illustrated not only the flexibility of today’s workflows but also their role in reducing environmental impact.
Virtual production significantly lowered the need for physical construction, material transport, and repeated set rebuilds. By transforming a single studio into multiple production formats within minutes, broadcasters reduced waste and cut emissions, all while maintaining creative freedom. This shift towards sustainable production practices reflected a broader industry move across Europe toward greener solutions.
IBC offered the perfect opportunity to see how these solutions came together in real-world scenarios. On the Ross stand, two dedicated areas gave visitors the chance to experience the workflows first-hand.
Station 1 brought together Tracked Virtual Sets and AR, with the Blackbird Robotic Pedestal from Ross Camera Motion Systems working seamlessly alongside Trackless Studio. Combined with OverDrive, this setup showed how automation and virtual production fit naturally into everyday newsroom operations.
Station 2 focused on the creative possibilities of LED-based XR, supported by XPression Tessera and Carbonite Mosaic. Seen through the Furio rail-mounted camera, the result was a dynamic and flexible production environment that could easily adapt to the demands of live broadcast.
Rather than abstract demonstrations, these stations showed how the tools worked together to create efficient, sustainable, and visually compelling productions — technology designed not just for the showcase, but for everyday use in studios across Europe and beyond.
Ross Virtual Solutions was proud to collaborate with Devlin Design Group and Full Mental Jacket, who brought their design expertise to the virtual set showcased at IBC. Their work in creating innovative, storytelling environments that seamlessly integrated physical and virtual design ensured that the set was not only visually stunning but also practical, flexible, and optimised for the demands of modern broadcasters.
