Ross Acuity Takes Over for Synergy at LCBC Church

Monday, March 2, 2015 [Iroquois, Ontario, Canada] – After 11 successful years with Ross Video’s Synergy switcher, LCBC Church in Lancaster, PA recently upgraded to HD with Ross’ new flagship Acuity switcher in their broadcast campus – their first campus out of six.

“We are incredibly happy with the longevity of our Synergy 2 switcher that we originally installed in 2003,” says Sean McDermott, Production Manager for LCBC. “Even though Synergy still functioned well for us, we had been planning for an HD upgrade for over 3 years, and knew our first step into becoming 1080p would be replacing the backbone of our system with Acuity – which has become our main venue switcher and video router.”

LCBC uses Acuity to control side and center screens in their main campus auditorium which seats 2300, as well as switch a lockdown camera along with the Main Venue IMAG feed which is then broadcast via satellite to their multisite campuses to watch live.  Prior to Acuity, LCBC had to switch their lockdown shot using an aux switcher in a separate room. Now, they can switch their lockdown on the same switcher.

Along with the Acuity switcher, LCBC also invested in Ross’ BlackStorm Playout Server to roll clips and a lot of openGear for signal processing.

“Knowing this equipment has a long life expectancy, we know we can get a significant return on our investment,” continues McDermott. “We installed a 3G switcher with 4K capabilities knowing this switcher could very well be in place in our venue in 2025. Also having openGear with such a low failure rate reduces the time my team has to spend troubleshooting or repairing gear. We can focus on our five other campus venues and ensure our church community has an excellent experience they can invite their friends, family and coworkers too.”
