Ross Video and Van Wagner Sports & Entertainment Help Drive Super Sunday in Miami

Ottawa, Canada, February 4th 2020 – With the dust still settling on the 54th ‘Big Game’ that took place in Miami Gardens last weekend, Ross creative and technical personnel and partners Van Wagner Sports & Entertainment are reflecting on their work powering the game-day experience that entertained fans fortunate enough to have had tickets for the Hard Rock stadium.

The Hard Rock Stadium, home to the Miami Dolphins football club and NCAA Miami Hurricanes football team, has been a long-time Ross customer. In March of 2017, they undertook an upgrade to their video production control room and LED display control systems and chose a Ross Unified Venue Control System to streamline their game day operations and enhance the game day fan experience. The Ross Unified Venue Control system integrates the control room production and LED content management system to allow production staff unparalleled creative possibilities and operational flexibility. The solution is comprised of several Ross products, including the flagship Acuity production switcher, XPression Studio 3D graphics render engine, XPression Tessera 3D graphics render engines (LED control) and the award-winning DashBoard Control System.

For this year’s event, additional Ross solutions were added to the production, including the XPression real-time Augmented Reality (AR) system, to display scoring drive summaries and in-game player statistics, and the Piero Sports Analysis tool, that uses image recognition or encoded camera lens/head data to overlay tactical graphics on sports content to create visually engaging and informative effects for the fans attending the game.

Commenting on the production horsepower deployed for this year’s game, Kevin Cottam, Ross Video’s Director of Sports & Live Events, highlights the importance of giving the fans in the stadium an experience to remember. “Last weekend’s game was one of the world’s most widely-viewed sporting events, and everyone involved wanted to ensure that the fans were entertained and engaged. We’ve partnered with Van Wagner Sports & Entertainment on a number of high-profile sports productions over the years and this was our 4th year of working together on the big game, so we were confident we would entertain fans throughout the game”.

Ryan Kehn, Creative Director at Van Wagner Sports & Entertainment, agrees. “We have high expectations for every show, but especially for the biggest game on Earth. Ross Video helps us continually meet and exceed those expectations.  We were excited to roll out some new toys this year and continue to push the limits of traditional video board shows and work together with the Ross team to deliver an exceptional fan experience”.
