The Enrique V. Iglesias Conference Center is located at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB Group) headquarters in Washington, D.C. Since 2005, it has hosted international meetings, policy talks, cultural events, executive conferences, and live productions.
The Inter-American Development Bank wanted to upgrade its Washington conference center to better connect in person, throughout the building, and with others around the world.
To achieve this, IDB Group brought in Ford AV to lead the renovation of the conference spaces and upgrade the technology in its three-story auditorium. Their main goal was to give presenters, attendees, interpreters, production teams, and remote participants a consistent experience throughout the venue.
Two flexible conference rooms and a large auditorium had to support everything from small roundtables to large multilingual international summits.
Each event has its own mix of people, spaces, and content. A small executive meeting might need remote presenters and document sharing, while a summit could use the auditorium, overflow rooms, live streaming, and real-time interpretation at the same time.
Video needed to move smoothly between floors and rooms. Each space had to work on its own or as part of a larger event. In the auditorium, the system needed to handle presentation sources, cameras, displays, and feeds for remote viewers.
Ford AV installed a venue-wide AV-over-IP system, flexible room setups, using Ross Video production switching in the main auditorium.
With help from consultant Electro-Media Design, Ford AV built a connected system that moves content throughout the conference center. The AV-over-IP backbone links the auditorium and meeting rooms, so teams can share sources between floors and adjust the setup as rooms are joined or separated.
In the auditorium, a large 4K chip-on-board LED wall is the main feature on stage, PTZ cameras, and a Ross Video Ultrix Carbonite with TouchDrive control panels support presentations, live events, and streaming. The Ross switching system is built into the control room, so operators can easily choose and manage video sources for both onsite and remote audiences.
The center can now easily switch from an executive meeting to a hybrid conference or a multilingual live production, within one connected AV system.
With the renovated conference center, IDB Group teams can plan events based on what the audience needs, not the room’s limits. Spaces can be set up for small meetings, big presentations, or multi-room events, with shared video and controls throughout the building.
In the auditorium, broadcast-quality switching and camera systems ensure reliable live production and streaming. Remote presenters and viewers can join without a separate event, and the interpretation system lets everyone follow the discussion in their own language.
For operators, the connected design creates a consistent path from source to screen. For attendees, the technology stays in the background. They can see, hear, and participate whether they are in the auditorium, another room, or joining from another country.
