Ross Announces Support for AWS for Media & Entertainment Initiative

Ottawa, Canada, May 12th 2021 – Ross Video is pleased to announce support for the AWS for Media & Entertainment initiative from Amazon Web Services (AWS) as part of the company’s Media Asset Management, Server and Newsroom Editorial solutions roadmaps.

AWS for Media & Entertainment is an initiative featuring new and existing services and solutions from AWS and AWS Partners, built specifically for content creators, rights holders, producers, broadcasters, and distributors. AWS for Media & Entertainment also simplifies the process of building, deploying, and reinventing mission-critical industry workloads by aligning AWS and AWS Partner capabilities against five solution areas: Content Production; Media Supply Chain & Archive; Broadcast; Direct-to-Consumer & Streaming; and Data Science & Analytics.

The average broadcaster now creates terabytes of video content every day. In parallel, important decisions must be made about what content is important, what needs to be stored and archived, and how best to do this. With storage requirements increasing exponentially and broadcasters running out of expensive on-premises tape and disk space, a great many content producers are turning to media asset management solutions that include cloud-based storage as part of their archive strategy. In recognition of this, Ross recently integrated with Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) Glacier, a storage class of Amazon S3, as an integral part of the Ross range of Media Asset Management and Server solutions. Ross is proud to be working with AWS and is looking to further exploit this important customer feature via its Inception.cloud Newsroom Editorial system.

“We are very pleased to be supporting AWS with this new initiative and including AWS in our future solutions roadmaps,” notes Ross Video CTO Troy English. “There is no doubt that the cloud will play an increasingly important role in our live production industry, as workflows become virtualized and our customers turn to cloud-based solutions and storage because of the convenience, flexibility and scalability they provide. Our customers work daily with content that can be history in the making. As a leader in live production technology, it’s therefore important for Ross to work with the best companies in order to offer our customers the highest levels of reliability, security, speed, and efficiency, and we’re very proud to partner with AWS in this regard.”
