Detour is the latest in the GearLite standalone product portfolio, and is yet another example of Ross Video’s innovative solutions to addressing the day to day operational challenges of its customers.

Detour is a Gear Lite 12G Re-clocking DA (1 x 4) with Relay Bypass. It provides both 12G signal distribution and can allow on-air failsafe operation in the event of power failure or primary input signal loss. Detour has been designed to aid customers in the build out of signal chains that are supporting the emerging 4K workflow. It is capable of supporting SDI data rates from 270Mb/s up to 12Gb/s. In addition, it can also support DVB-ASI, as well as MADI signals, making it easy to use in a variety of applications. Equalization and reclocking is performed on all common serial digital signals.

Detour has three primary applications. The first is an independent, 1×4 12Gb/s DA with relay bypass on the first output. In this application, the primary input and first output are protected in the case of a power failure, guaranteeing signal output for mission critical paths. In addition, the second input can be utilized as a failover input in case of signal loss on the primary input. The second application is in conjunction with Ultrix, Ross Video’s award winning connectivity platform. Ultrix has an option named Ultriclean, which allows users the ability to perform clean/quiet routing, available from a single output up to every output on the frame. This is great for applications such as master control bypass or where downstream equipment can’t be disrupted. When combined with Detour, the system now performs clean/quiet switching with relay bypass, making it the world’s first 12Gb/s clean/quiet router! The third is as a standalone Auto/Manual changeover switch. In this application Detour can change to a secondary input manually triggered in Dashboard or automatically based Loss of Signal.

Dashboard control and monitoring software, as well as LED indicators on the module identity the presence of incoming video, power, and the data rate for each independent channel.
