RMC BFM brings viewers closer with dynamic studio storytelling

Inside RMC BFM’s next-generation studio

Advanced graphics, robotics, and 2110 workflows help RMC BFM deliver more engaging and visually rich broadcasts
Introduction

Evolving broadcast for modern audiences

RMC BFM is evolving how it connects with audiences through a modernised studio environment that incorporates Ross technology alongside other systems.

By enhancing its graphics, robotics, and video display capabilities, the broadcaster is delivering a more dynamic and visually engaging viewing experience. Solutions including XPression and XPression Tessera play a central role in this transformation, enabling consistent design, faster content creation, and greater creative flexibility across programming.

This approach allows RMC BFM to build on its existing infrastructure while introducing powerful new tools for storytelling. The result is a more agile production environment that supports stronger, more immersive viewer experiences.

The challenge

Modernising production without disruption

RMC BFM needed to evolve its studio production capabilities to meet rising audience expectations while working within an established technology environment.

Existing workflows were not fully optimised for delivering consistent, high-impact visuals across different formats, and there were limitations in how graphics and video elements could be coordinated. This made it harder to create engaging, educational, and visually varied content at scale.

At the same time, RMC BFM required a solution that could integrate with its current systems, support modern standards such as SMPTE ST 2110, and provide a foundation for long-term growth. The challenge was to introduce new capabilities without disrupting operations, while enabling teams to work more efficiently and creatively.

The solution

One unified production workflow

RMC BFM worked with Ross to enhance its production environment with advanced graphics, robotics, and video display technologies that integrate alongside existing systems. XPression and XPression Tessera are central to this deployment, providing a flexible and scalable graphics workflow.

A key advantage is the ability to use the same creation tools for both on-air graphics and LED video walls, ensuring visual consistency while reducing duplication of effort. Tessera integrates with newsroom systems through MOS, allowing journalists and producers to manage and trigger content directly within their existing workflows. This improves speed, accuracy, and collaboration across teams. The deployment also aligns with modern IP-based standards, including SMPTE ST 2110 where applicable, supporting future-ready production.

“At BFM we push our tools to the very limit. That’s what we did with XPression. We use it from morning to night, designing everything in XPression and saving time. As a result, we are very agile.”

The impact

More engaging broadcasts at scale

RMC BFM now delivers a more engaging and visually rich broadcast experience that brings viewers closer to the story. Presenters are better supported by dynamic, data-driven visuals that strengthen the connection between the studio and the audience.

The enhanced graphics and video capabilities create greater variety across programming, making content clearer, more informative, and more compelling to watch. Production teams can respond more quickly to changing stories, producing high-quality content with greater efficiency and consistency.

By combining improved workflows with more powerful visual tools, RMC BFM is able to deliver broadcasts that inform, engage, and retain audiences across its programmes.
