Biography

A senior advisor to Boards and C-Suites on strategic and operational issues, Bruce has been a key player in the growth and success of many major organizations based out of Ottawa. He is known for his ability to connect people and ideas, and is also a highly regarded expert on corporate governance. His broad business expertise is based on over 30 years of public accounting experience serving large public sector organizations, global advanced technology and communications companies, and growth oriented private companies.
 
Bruce was a senior partner in the National Capital Region office of Deloitte, serving as the Office Managing Partner for seven years and the leader of the Canadian Federal Government practice for five years. After his retirement from Deloitte in 2010, Bruce was the VP of Leadership and Human Resource Research for the Conference Board of Canada until late 2011. In the fall of 2015, Bruce was the Executive in Residence at the Schwartz School of Business at St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia, where he developed and taught “Leadership: Conversations with the C-Suite”. Bruce is now an Independent Corporate Director.
 
At Deloitte, Bruce developed and led a dinner series in Ottawa on Crown Corporation Governance and facilitated a quarterly roundtable discussion of Board members and management of Federal Crown Corporations on topical governance issues facing Crown Corporations. Bruce was the founding Chair of the National Capital chapter of the Institute of Corporate Directors. He holds his ICD.D designation and has served on numerous boards.
 
Bruce currently Chairs the Audit Committee of the Auditor General of Canada, and is a Board member and Chair of the Audit Committee of Saegis, a member of the CMPA family. He is a Board member and Chairs the Audit Committees of ProntoForms Corporation and CounterPath Corporation, both publicly listed technology companies. Bruce is a Board member and Chair of the Audit Committee for Ross Video, a private manufacturer of video production systems sold globally. He is a Board member of the Surrey City Development Corporation, a company owned by the City of Surrey, BC to accelerate growth of the city through strategic real estate development.
 
Bruce is a Fellow of CPA Ontario (The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario). He has completed the Directors Education Program through the Institute of Corporate Directors and is Human Resources and Compensation Committee Certified through The Directors College.
 
Bruce and his wife, Margaret, enjoy travel, cycling and golf. Bruce is a member of a Men’s Book Club for CEOs and professionals, which he started. They have homes in Ottawa and Surrey, BC.
