How Everyday Astronaut Tracks Rocket Launches with Ross Video’s Robotic Camera Systems

If you’ve ever watched a rocket launch, you know how incredible (and fast!) the moment is. Capturing it in stunning detail takes serious skill—and the right equipment.

Everyday Astronaut, a YouTube channel with over 1.8 million subscribers, is on a mission to bring space down to Earth for everyday people. To do that, they need top-tier camera equipment that can precisely track rockets as they launch into space. And because every tiny movement matters when working with telescopes and long-range lenses, Everyday Astronaut turned to Ross Video’s robotic camera heads.

For two recent launches—one in Texas and another in California—Everyday Astronaut deployed of our systems to capture the events from multiple angles. With the VR100 and VR600 PT heads, they could smoothly track the rockets in real time, delivering stunning, stable footage to their audience.

So, what did they think? According to the team, the Ross Pan & Tilt camera heads were accurate, reliable, and easy to use—which is exactly what you need when dealing with fast-moving rockets. They also praised the system’s versatility, smooth motion, and rock-solid construction —essential qualities for working with high-magnification optics.

One feature the team particularly loved was the integrated wiring support and durable I/O ports, which made setup easier and ensured everything stayed secure—even in high-pressure launch environments.

At Ross Video, we designed our robotic camera systems to deliver precision, flexibility, and reliability—whether you’re in a news studio, a live event, or, in this case, tracking rockets into space. Seeing Everyday Astronaut use our gear to bring the excitement of spaceflight to millions is why we engineer these solutions and drives us to innovate more.
