Ross Video IBC 2018 Product Announcement Highlights

Ross focusses on live production solutions that advance our clients’ creative, business and technical environments. Our previous press release provided an overview of the solutions we are showcasing at IBC 2018. This release highlights the new products at the show. Here is the rundown:

Carbonite Ultra Production Switcher
Ross has consistently been the dominant player in mid-size production switchers since the launch of the original Carbonite 7 years ago. This year’s IBC sees Ross unveil a brand new 24 input model – Carbonite Ultra – that uses the latest technology and offers ground breaking production performance. Carbonite Ultra can expand to 3 full MEs with a fully-packed feature set yet weighs in at just 1RU. Remarkably affordable, the processing engine starts at only $10,900 USD. Ultritouch Smart Touch Control & Monitoring Panel
Ultritouch is a touch-enabled, 2RU universal control panel that runs DashBoard and DashBoard custom panels. Ultritouch is a “must see”; it’s super flexible, provides control over Ultrix and NK Routing, openGear infrastructure products and anything DashBoard connected.  Ultritouch back orders are being accepted now with shipments starting in November. XPression Motion Graphics System v8.5
The latest 8.5 version of XPression adds an array of new features including a new search tool making it easier to find fonts, materials, scenes and more. Enhanced support for Wide Color Gamut (WCG) and High Dynamic Range (HDR) is included, as is support for Bluefish444 Epoch 4K Neutron I/O cards, full Windows 10 support and enhancements to XPression DataLinq data integration server with the addition of a number of new data sources. XPression Tessera MOS Workflow
XPression Tessera makes it easy to design super high resolution and unusual-sized arrays of LED screens pixel accurately, producing stunning results. First used in stadium productions, Tessera is now available for on-set display arrays for broadcast and entertainment. To improve the efficiency of news productions using Tessera, a MOS workflow has been added. News productions featuring a complex multiscreen backdrop can now be built and managed much more easily. Abekas Mira Replay “Mira Touch” Control Panel
The new Mira Touch option provides a series of touch-screen user interfaces that can be operated with both the Mira and Mira Express replay systems. The functionality of each Mira Touch user interface is ‘pared-down’ for specific, niche sports applications. PivotCam SE PTZ Camera
PivotCam SE is a new all-in-one PTZ camera featuring a 12.4 megapixel, ½ inch CMOS sensor and fully progressive 1080P HD video with superior detail. The PIVOTCam-SE’s Ethernet interface offers the option for single cable connectivity, providing remote control via IP Visca protocol, video output using 4KUHD IP Streaming, and Power over Ethernet – all over a standard CAT5E cable. The new PIVOTCam-SE also offers a 3G-SDI output, and an external synchronization (Genlock) input, simplifying system integration. The optical stability of the PIVOTCam-SE has been enhanced with the addition of a second arm, ensuring a clean and stable image, even on the tightest shots provided by the 23X optical zoom. Lightning Assembly Production v6

Graphite All-in-One Production System v2.0
Graphite v2.0 sees the inclusion of a number of audio feature enhancements, including channel selection for the RAVE audio mixer from any of the 16 embedded channels on each input, automatic cross-fade Audio-Follow-Video transitions and support for USB connected MIDI audio mixer panels. Graphite now ships on a more powerful hardware platform with more CPU and GPU horsepower and Windows 10 support. V2.0 software will be available in November. Learn more about Graphite…

OverDrive Production Automation
OverDrive was first launched at IBC 15 years ago, when automated production was in its infancy. In 2018, OverDrive is the world’s most preferred production automation system with a mature foundation and a new v18 software release that continues to add performance features. Inception News, Social and Live v12
Inception v12 is officially released just before IBC and packs in more than 20 new features including:

  • Multi-zone story locking – two users can now be editing a story simultaneously with separate story locks for the script and the MOS objects
  • 12/24 clock support and user definable time zones
  • New MOS device and web platform integrations (full list available at rossvideo.com)
  • Reporting Engine to generate reports on a wide range of customizable data fields, e.g. tracking local content, productivity and output
  • Performance improvements including the addition of Elasticsearch to speed up archive searches.

Streamline MAM v4
V4 of Streamline, our  Media Asset Management System, is a huge release adding cloud asset storage integration, multiple asset storage locations, a new and improved reporting engine, SNMP monitoring, system health monitor, folder permissions and a lot more. UX ARVS Control Hub v4
UX is the control hub of a virtual set or augmented reality production, tying together all of the tracking elements and controlling the rendered in real time. Version 4.0 of UX makes richer, more complex ARVS productions easier with a new Visual Logic control quadrant to create complex behaviors and interactions in virtual environments. Also included is control over virtual light color and intensity, dynamic garbage matte control and support for new tracking protocols: BlackTrax, Motion Analysis and improvements to the Startracker protocol. Ultrix v3.3
Ultrix, the innovative routing and AV processing platform, gets a number of feature enhancements with v3.3 software at IBC. Variable audio delay has been added to the Ultrisync frame sync option adding up to ½ second delay per audio channel – great for solving audio delay problems. Sample Rate Conversion (SRC) on MADI breakout channels ensures clean, timed MADI audio I/O.  MultiViewers become more capable with a new output PIP size, one per MV in the system. In addition, there is a new option available to support the NV9000 protocol, enabling Ultrix to play in NVision legacy control environments. Ultrix IP Blade
Announced at NAB earlier this year in order to provide customer direction, the Ultrix IP Blade brings IP I/O to the Ultrix connectivity platform. For IBC, confirmed features now include 4x25Gb Ethernet ports, 8+8 UHD and 16+16 3G HD per blade, SMPTE ST2110 support and a ship date of NAB 2019.
