Ross Video’s Nestor Amaya Wins Future’s Industry Innovator Award, Presented by Government Video

Ottawa, Canada, 8th January 2019 – Ross Video is pleased to announce that Nestor Amaya has been honoured with Future’s Industry Innovator Award, presented by Government Video.
Future’s Industry Innovator Award winners are selected by a panel of experts and evaluated on their professional achievements, technical and business innovations and continuing influence within their industries.
The winners have been featured in Government Video, read by thousands of broadcast professionals in the United States, around the world and online. Additionally, all winners and nominees are featured in the special Industry Innovator Awards Program Guide, to be distributed in digital edition form to more than 100,000 readers of TV Technology, Digital Video, Video Edge, Government Video and Radio World.
Nestor Amaya has been at the forefront of the AV industry’s transition to IP. As President of COVELOZ Technologies, a live media networking technology company that he founded in 2009, Nestor led the development of many IP-based networking chips and products for a wide range of applications and clients. Nestor’s goal has always been to provide a standard IP transport system that can be shared throughout the industry. Ross Video acquired COVELOZ Technologies in 2016, recognising the alignment of Nestor’s efforts to create open standards in IP with Ross Video’s efforts to create open-architecture platforms within the broadcast and video production industry (e.g. openGear, openTruck, openCrew). As Vice President, Infrastructure, Nestor leads Ross Video’s work in developing a practical transition path to IP for manufacturers and end-users alike; he and his team have already developed a range of solutions available to other manufacturers to allow their products to integrate into AES67 or ST2110 environments.
“It’s a pleasure to honour those who make such a difference in their industries— innovating in technology and business while also inspiring others,” said Carmel King, Vice President of Media Technology for Future’s B2B Group. “The awards are designed to shine a spotlight on the people behind the companies and technologies on which our industries depend. We offer a heartfelt ‘thank you’ for their contributions and wish them continued success.”
“This is an unexpected but very welcome honour,” notes Nestor Amaya. “IP is having a transformative impact on both the broadcast and AV industries, and I’m very proud to be playing my own small part in helping manufacturers and customers transition their workflows to IP in a productive way. When it comes to IP, there is a definite need to separate the hype from the reality, and I hope my work with Ross Video is doing just that.”
