Ross Video Acquires Portalis

Ottawa, Canada, April 7th 2019 – Ross Video is pleased to announce it has acquired the US-based technology company, Portalis, for an undisclosed sum. Located in Salt Lake City, Utah, Portalis developed a ground-breaking, patented, and unique Workstation Integration technology that revolutionizes the way control rooms and command & control centers around the world are designed, engineered, and managed. The company’s pro-xi® solution enables control room operators to simultaneously view and actively control multiple computer systems on one workstation, using one keyboard and one mouse. This deal brings Ross Video’s number of acquisitions to fourteen in the last decade, and further strengthens Ross Video’s reputation as a fast-growth innovator in the live production sector. This new technology will expand Ross Video’s presence into many additional verticals outside live production, including energy, healthcare, manufacturing, logistics, banking, federal agencies, governments and the military.

Commenting on the purchase, David Ross, CEO of Ross Video, points to the breadth of the company’s portfolio. “Ross has grown an average of 17% per annum over the last 27 years, without taking on any external investment. We now have the most comprehensive range of solutions within the live production industry. This acquisition further builds on our portfolio, and the addition of Portalis’ pioneering technology provides us additional avenues to help our customers save time and money as well as making their control room operations more effective.”

“We are excited to be joining the Ross family,” said Dan Bastian, President & CEO of Portalis. “Ross Video has always been an important broadcast brand in North America and has rapidly expanded its international footprint in recent years. We are delighted to become the latest members of the Ross team. We look forward to launching the Ross brand into new markets, exploiting the only workstation integration product in the world, and synergistically increasing the value of Ross solutions in our established broadcast and live event markets.”
